Due to the last year pandemic situation, Euro 2020 tournament has not been conducted and is postponed to next year. This year in 2021, the same ฟุตบอลยุโรป matches will be conducted in June & July months with totally 24 teams. These 24 teams of players will be playing across 51 football matches in the 12 different cities. This tournament will start on Friday June 12, 2021. It will ends in Sunday July 12, 2021 at Wembley Stadium with the final match. As compared to all other team members, the team of Portugal is the protective champion. Already, it won the championship in the year 2016 and many fans expect that this year also the same team will win this intercontinental football tournament.
60th anniversary of Euro 2020-2021:
Michelle Platini is the president of UEFA and he said that this football tournament was held in the various countries to celebrate the 60th anniversary or birthday of the European football championship competition. As Wembley Stadium available in London, England contains the largest capacity of any sports competition, this world class competition will also be conducted there. Already the same euro tournaments were conducted here in this stadium. This time the semi-finals and finals of the Euro 2020 football tournament conducted there is the second time this stadium has been used for the Euro events by UEFA. Earlier in 1996, the same stadium was used for the Euro football matches and now it comes back but the opening of the game was conducted in the Stadio Olimpico in Rome.
Co-host format of Euro 2020:
- The standard of UEFA announced on 6th December, 2012 that this Euro tournament might be held in 7 various cities across Europe.
- But now in 2021, it has been conducted in 12 different cities and countries to celebrate its 60th anniversary of the competition.
- Selecting the city of host doesn’t guarantee that the host team will automatically qualify.
- The UEFA argues that the performing competition level across Europe was the best decision in that time of financial hardship.
- But now days, there are huge demands and popularity for this championship program so this resolution was accepted & also admired by majority of the people.
The teams for this ฟุตบอลยุโรป are selected based on the overall ranking of the European qualifiers playing this year 2021 according to the results of the UEFA Euro 2020 qualifying rounds.
